Jim Damask
I’m Jim Damask, a grain broker working at the intersection of commodities, agriculture, and global markets.
My work is centered on helping clients navigate markets that don’t stand still—corn, soybeans, feed ingredients—where prices move fast and the landscape is constantly evolving. A big part of what I do is understanding how global dynamics, especially between the U.S. and Brazil, shape opportunity and risk in real time.
Markets have a way of keeping you honest. You can do the work, study the data, and still be wrong. Over time, I’ve learned that success in this business isn’t about always being right—it’s about adapting, staying disciplined, and keeping perspective when things don’t go your way.
That mindset doesn’t stop when the workday ends.
Outside of markets, I’m a dad to a 13-year-old daughter. That’s what really puts things in perspective. It reminds me that long-term thinking isn’t just something you apply to markets—it’s how you approach life.
I’ve also found balance through staying active and spending time outdoors. Surfing, yoga, and travel aren’t just hobbies—they’re ways to reset, stay grounded, and keep a clear head in a fast-moving world. There’s something about being in the water or stepping away from the noise that brings everything back into focus.
In a lot of ways, the same principles apply across everything:
stay adaptable, stay present, and don’t get too attached to any single outcome.
This site is where I share insights on commodities, market trends, and the mindset required to navigate both business and life. It’s a place for real perspective—on markets, relationships, and what actually matters over the long run.
